Obama Administration Unveils National Tourism and Travel Strategy

Earlier this month, US Commerce Secretary John Bryson and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar  unveiled the Obama Administration’s National Tourism and Travel Strategy – delivering on President Barack Obama ’s call in January for a national strategy to promote domestic and international travel opportunities throughout the United States. The document was the result of a Task Force on Travel & Competitiveness that President Obama called for in January 2012, to find ways to make the United States a world-leader in the travel and tourism industry.  “Tens of millions of tourists from all over the world come and visit America every year.  They stay in our hotels, they eat at our restaurants, they visit our attractions, and they help create jobs.  At a time when too many Americans are still looking for work, we need to make it easier for more people to visit this country and keep our economy growing,” said President Obama. Poet Billy Collins Reads at Ambassador Dan Rooney's House in Dublin

American poet Billy Collins , US poet laureate from 2001-2003, gave a reading at the home of American Ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney earlier this week in Dublin, according to the US Embassy in Dublin . Among other selections, he read his poem, Another Reason Why I Don't Keep a Gun in the House .
